Fault finding and testing

Fiberconnect provides a comprehensive emergency fault finding and repair service for damaged and faulty fibre optic connections.

Just one quick call and we will task a fault specialist to repair any damaged fibre links within your premises, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

If your fibre link has stopped working, or has an intermittent fault, call us now on 020 7060 1135 and speak to an engineer. If all of our engineers are occupied, you will receive a return call with an hour.

Tier 1 and Tier 2 testing.

Certification of new cabling to conform with IEEE, TIA/EIA, or ISO/IEC standards ensures that your link will adequately support network services.

Complete fibre cabling certification includes two parts; Tier 1 or Basic Test Regimen and Tier 2 or Extended Test Regimen.

Tier 1 cabling certification is performed with a power meter and light source or optical loss test set to measure the absolute loss of the link and compare it to the limits in the standard. These results are logged and form part of your registration report.

While Tier 1 fibre optic tests can identify problems in terms of pass or fail, they cannot determine the root cause or location of a problem.

Tier 2 fibre certification requires the use of an Optical Time-Domain Reflectometer (OTDR) to ensure the quality of individual components of the installed link.

Tier 2 testing is used to pinpoint root-cause locations and the amount of loss and optical return loss (ORL) from each problem encountered, providing a deeper level of link visibility than basic infrastructure tests.
